Input Needed On Proposed Impacts

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Needs Your Input on Proposed Impacts to the Elizabethtown Sports Park and the Billy Creek Greenbelt Trail

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), in partnership with the Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) are seeking public input regarding how the proposed improvements to KY 1357 (St. John Rd) between Ring Road and the 31W Bypass will impact the Elizabethtown Sports Park (ESP)and the Billy Creek Greenbelt Trail

The purpose of the project is to improve safety and efficiency on KY 1357.   The proposed improvements will widen KY 1357 to two driving lanes with a center shared turn lane.  There will be curb and gutter as well as a 4 foot sidewalk on the north side and a 6 foot shared use path on the south side of the improved roadway.

The preferred alternative will require approximately 0.49 acres of temporary easement from the Elizabethtown Sports Park to provide equipment access for constructing the roadway improvements.  This will cause temporary impacts to the fencing and landscaping.  Additionally, the Billy Creek Trail will be temporarily closed during construction for safety reasons.  KYTC has coordinated with the City of Elizabethtown extensively during the design phase to minimize the impacts to the ESP.

Your comments will be used in determining any potential effect the proposed path could have on the Elizabethtown Sports Park or Billy Creek Trail or affect the activities, features, or attributes that make the park and trail a Section 4(f)-eligible resource.

Please address any comments by July 31st, 2018 regarding potential 4(f) impacts to the Elizabethtown Sports Park or Billy Creek Greenbelt Trail anticipated from this project to:
