Eddyville to Fredonia

The U.S. 641 project, from Eddyville to Fredonia, aims to better connect the region and improve safety and mobility. The proposed expansion would connect with a recently completed U.S. 641 improvement project between Fredonia and Marion and extend the corridor improvements to Eddyville, near the Interstate 69/U.S. 62 interchange.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has identified a Preliminary Preferred alignment that was shared during a public information meeting in Fredonia on August 27, 2019. Primary factors used in the development of the Preliminary Preferred Alternative included:

  • Safety
  • Limiting impacts to farms, homes, businesses and private properties
  • Addressing current and long-term transportation needs in the region
  • Maximizing use of public property
  • Keeping project within budget/minimizing cost escalations
  • Limiting impacts on the environment
  • Avoiding further delays
