Amtrak Train on railroad 

Passenger Rail service in Kentucky is provided by Amtrak. Amtrak trains serve four cities in Kentucky via two routes. The Cardinal Route serves the cities of Ashland, Maysville, and South Portsmouth. This route runs from Chicago, IL to Washington D.C. The City of New Orleans Route provides service from Chicago, IL to New Orleans, LA while passing through Fulton, KY. A Thruway motorcoach connection is provided at Louisville, connecting Louisville and Indianapolis to Chicago.
