This report summarizes the upcoming week's major traffic impacts (beginning Sundays). 
New items or changes in project status are shown in bold.


Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, striping, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night. Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance on interstates and highways daily throughout the district.

I-Move KY 
I-71 and I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway)

Daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, June 9, through Wednesday, June 11:

  • I-265 South will be reduced to two lanes from mile point 35.2 (at the I-265/I-71 interchange) to mile point 34.1 (near KY 22/Brownsboro Road) for roadside maintenance.

Monday, June 9, from 8 p.m. to Tuesday, June 10, at 6 a.m.:

  • The I-64 East to I-265 North ramp will be reduced to one lane for roadside maintenance.

Tuesday, June 10, from 8 p.m. to Wednesday, June 11, at 6 a.m.:

  • The I-64 East to I-265 North ramp will be reduced to one lane for roadside maintenance.

Wednesday, June 11, from 8 p.m. to Thursday, June 12, at 6 a.m.:

  • I-265 South will be reduced to one lane from mile point 35.2 (at the I-265/I-71 interchange) to mile point 34.1 (near KY 22/Brownsboro Road) for overhead sign work.

 

Jefferson County 
U.S. 31E (Main Street)
*Main Remade – East Phase
Traffic Impacts: Sidewalk and lane closures are possible.
Date/Time: Daily.
Project Limits: U.S. 31E (Main Street) between Wenzel Street and 2nd Street.
Type of Work: One-way to two-way conversion. In addition to the new two-way configuration, other improvements coming to the corridor include upgrades to crosswalks and intersections, a protected bike lane, dedicated left-turn lanes, and new traffic signals.

U.S. 31 (Clark Memorial Bridge) & North Second Street in downtown Louisville and West Market Street/West Riverside Drive in Jeffersonville, Ind.
Traffic Impacts: Daily lane closures underneath the bridge and sidewalk closures on the bridge.
Date/Time:
·        Beginning Monday, June 9, daily lane closures will be in place underneath the bridge to accommodate snooper trucks and other inspection equipment. Affected areas included North Second Street near the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville and West Market Street/West Riverside Drive in Jeffersonville, Ind. The lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, June 13, to avoid disrupting rush hour traffic. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zones.
·        The second inspection phase will occur Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20. Inspectors will climb the bridge's steel truss to inspect the upper steel beams. This work will occur during daytime hours and does not require lane closures on the bridge. Crews will stage equipment on the southbound sidewalk, which may temporarily restrict pedestrian access. The northbound sidewalk remains closed to pedestrians.
I-64 East and West
Traffic Impacts: Single lane closures.
Date/Time: Saturday, June 14, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Project Limits: I-64 East and West at mile marker 4 (near 9th Street).
Type of Work: Routine bridge inspection.
Other Details: Motorists should heed signage and use caution while traveling through the work zone.
I-64 East and West
Traffic Impacts: Ramp closures.
Date/Time: Sunday, June 15, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Project Limits: The I-64 East off-ramp to 9th Street/Roy Wilkins Avenue at Exit 4 and the I-64 West on-ramp from 9th Street.
Type of Work: Routine bridge inspection.
Other Details: Motorists should heed signage, use caution, and plan ahead when traveling.
I-64 East and West
Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and traffic shifts are possible.
Date/Time: Daily and nightly.
Project Limits: I-64 East and West at mile point 11.799, near Exit 10 (Cannons Lane) on I-64 West, and near Exit 12 to I-264 (Watterson Expressway) on I-64 East.
Type of Work: Bridge replacement project.
Other Details: **Eastbound and westbound traffic is shifted to the outer shoulders. Construction is currently taking place in the median, and two 11-foot lanes will remain open in each direction for the duration of the project.

I-65 South (John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge)
Traffic Impacts: Closure of the left lane and shoulder. 
Date/Time: Daily/nightly
Project Limits: I-65 South (John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge).
Type of Work: Expansion joint replacement project. 
Other Details: Full construction is scheduled to begin in mid-July, when newly fabricated expansion joints are expected to arrive.  The project is expected to be completed by April 2026, and intermittent lane closures are to be anticipated throughout the duration of construction. 
KY 841 (Gene Snyder Freeway)
Traffic Impacts: Single lane closures are possible.   
Date/Time: Beginning Monday, June 8, through Saturday, June 14.
Daily – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Nightly – 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Project Limits: KY 841 North and South (Gene Snyder Freeway), between mile points 35.0 and 37.7, near and through the East End Tunnel.
Type of Work: Routine maintenance of the roadway and East End Tunnel.
KY 864 (Logan Street/Shelby Street)
Traffic Impacts: Sidewalk and lane closures are possible.
Date/Time: Daily and nightly.
Project Limits: Between Goss Avenue and East Gray Street.
Type of Work: One-way to two-way conversion of the roadway.
Other Details: Work is underway ahead of asphalt resurfacing and the two-way conversion of the roadway.
*Work was temporarily paused on this project as KYTC engineers coordinated with contractors and utility providers to reduce utility conflicts along the corridor. Major work is expected to resume this Spring, with full completion expected by the Spring of 2026.
KY 1819 (Billtown Road)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible.

Date/Time: Daily – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Project Limits: Three sections of KY 1819 (Billtown Road):

  • Easum Road through Mary Dell Lane
  • Michael Edward Drive through Fairground Road
  • Shady Acres Lane through Colonnades Place

Type of Work: Reconstruction of KY 1819 (Billtown Road) from north of Colonnades Place to south of Easum Road with new traffic signals, signal optimization, turn lanes, storage lanes, etc. (varying by intersection based on existing conditions and future traffic projections).

Other Details: The reconstruction project is expected to be completed by the Summer of 2025.

Clark Station Road
Traffic Impacts: Road/bridge closure.
Project Limits: Clark Station Road Bridge over Long Run Creek.
Type of Work: Bridge replacement project.
Other Details: Construction will require the full closure of the existing bridge through August 1, 2025.
I-64 and I-264 *Various Exit Ramps
Traffic Impacts: Ramp narrowing with intermittent lane and shoulder closures.
Project Limits: Various interchange Exit ramps on I-64 and I-264.
Type of Work: Installation and upgrade of wrong-way pavement markings and signs.
Other Details: The Highway Safety Improvement Project will install and enhance wrong-way signs and pavement markings on interstate Exit ramps to discourage wrong-way driving. Motorists should reduce speeds and obey traffic control while workers are present. This project is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2025.
  
Bullitt County 
I-65/KY 480 (Cedar Grove Road)
Traffic Impacts: Changing traffic patterns, lane shifts, and lane closures are possible as construction progresses.
Date/Time: Daily and nightly.
Project Limits: KY 480 (Cedar Grove Road) between I-65 between mile points 0.6 and 1.4.
Type of Work: Reconstruction of the KY 480/I-65 interchange, including the construction of a double crossover diamond.
Other Details: The interchange reconstruction project is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2025.
I-65 *Various Exit Ramps
Traffic Impacts: Intermittent lane and ramp closures.
Date/Time: Nightly –  8 p.m. to 6 a.m. | Daily – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Project Limits: Various interchange Exit ramps on I-65.
Type of Work: Upgrade and install wrong way pavement markings and signs.
Other Details: The Highway Safety Improvement Project will install and enhance wrong way signs and pavement markings on various interstate exit ramps to discourage wrong way driving. Motorists should reduce speeds and obey traffic control while workers are present. This project is set to be completed by the fall of 2025.
  
Franklin County 
I-64/U.S. 127 Interchange
*The I-64 West off-ramp to U.S. 127 at Exit 53B will be closed from 9 p.m. Monday, June 9, through 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 10. The ramp closure is necessary for contract crews to install rumble strips and complete shoulder work on the off-ramp as part of the I-64/U.S. 127 interchange improvement project. 
Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and traffic shifts are possible.
Date/Time: Daily/Nightly.
Project Limits: The I-64/U.S. 127 interchange.
Type of Work: The realigning of the I-64 West off-ramp to U.S. 127 North and the I-64 West on-ramp from U.S. 127. Other improvements include the installation of a new signalized intersection on U.S. 127 to provide access to development entrances, which will be activated following project completion. Additionally, the intersection of Westridge Drive and Leonardwood Drive will be reconstructed to accommodate dual left turns onto Westridge Drive from U.S. 127.
Other Details: Traffic is now in its final configuration. The interchange reconstruction project is expected to be completed by the Summer of 2025.
KY 1665 (Bridgeport-Benson Road)
*Construction to replace the KY 1665 (Bridgeport-Benson Road) bridge over South Benson Creek at mile point 3.93 in Franklin County has been postponed.
Details regarding the upcoming 60-day closure and revised construction timeline will be shared as they become available.*
Project Limits: KY 1665 (Bridgeport-Benson Road) bridge over South Benson Creek at mile point 3.93.
Type of Work: Bridge replacement.
I-64 *Various Exit Ramps
Traffic Impacts: Intermittent lane and ramp closures.
Date/Time: Nightly – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. | Daily – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Project Limits: Various interchange Exit ramps on I-64.
Type of Work: Upgrade and install wrong way pavement markings and signs.
Other Details: The Highway Safety Improvement Project will install and enhance wrong way signs and pavement markings on various interstate exit ramps to discourage wrong way driving. Trimble County 
U.S. 421
Traffic Impacts: Lane closure.  
Date/Time: Through Friday, June 20.  
Project Limits: U.S. 421 from mile point 0.0 (at the Trimble/Henry County line) to mile point 6.704 (at the U.S. 42/U.S. 421 intersection).
Type of Work: Roadway slide repairs.
Other Details: Motorists are being directed through the work zone via a temporary signal. Drivers should heed the temporary signal and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
