Pothole patching, sweeping, drain & ditch cleaning, striping, pavement marking, and maintenance crews may work on major interstates in the Louisville Metro area only during non-peak daytime hours and at night. Motorists should watch for roadside maintenance on interstates and highways daily throughout the district.

Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may occur, so the information below is strictly of an advisory nature and is subject to change with no notice.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

I-65 / I-71 / I-264 / I-265 / KY 841 (Exit Ramps)

Traffic Impacts: Intermittent lane/ramp closures and delays possible.

Date/Time: Weekdays – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. | Weekends – Friday at 6:00 p.m., through Monday at 6:00 a.m.

Project Limits: Various interchange exit ramps on I-65, I-71, I-264, I-265 & KY 841.

Type of Work: Upgrade and install wrong way pavement markings and signs.

Other Details: The Highway Safety Improvement Project will install and enhance wrong way signs and pavement markings on various interstate exit ramps to discourage wrong way driving. Motorists should reduce speeds and obey traffic control while workers are present. This project is set to be completed by fall 2023.

U.S. 60 (Frankfort Av enue)

Traffic Impacts: Daily and nightly lane closures possible.

Date/Time: Daily/nightly.

Project Limits: From U.S. 60 (Frankfort Avenue) at mile point 0 extending east to U.S. 60A (Lexington Road) at mile point 3.459.  

Type of Work: Asphalt resurfacing.

Other Details: This project is expected to be completed by October 2023.

KY 22 (Brownsboro Road)/Springcrest Drive Intersection   

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures, traffic shifts, and delays as the project progresses.

Date/Time: Preliminary work (off roadway) has begun.

Project Limits: KY 22 (Brownsboro Road)/Springcrest Drive intersection, near mile point 1.6.

Type of Work: The reconstruction of two 11-foot travel lanes and a left turn lane at the Springcrest Drive intersection are included in this project. Additionally, a 6-foot sidewalk will be installed along the north side of KY 22 between the entrance just east of Cliffwynde Trce and Brownhurst Cove Road.

KY 155 (Taylorsville Road)

Traffic Impacts: Daily intermittent lane closures.

Date/Time: Daily 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Project Limits: South Pope Lick Road intersection, near mile point 4.9.

Detour:  South Pope Lick Road: Road closed to thru traffic between KY 155 (Taylorsville Road) and Rehl Road. Local access only.

Type of Work: Reconstruction of the KY 155 and South Pope Lick Road intersection and bridge over Pope Lick Creek.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in the winter of 2023.

KY 155 (Taylorsville Road)

Traffic Impacts: Daily lane closures possible.

Date/Time: Daily.

Project Limits: KY 155 (Taylorsville Road) beginning south of Stone Lakes Drive (mile point 6.361) extending north to Tucker Station Road (mile point 6.889).  

Type of Work: Asphalt resurfacing with possible subgrade repairs.

Other Details: This project is expected to be completed by November 2023.

I-265 East and West (Gene Snyder Freeway) 

Traffic Impacts: Intermittent lane/ramp closures, traffic shifts, and delays possible.

Date/Time: Weekdays – 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. | Weekends – Friday at 9 p.m., through Monday at 5 a.m. 

Project Limits: Just past the KY 864/Beulah Church Road interchange (mile point 15.6) to beyond the U.S. 31E/Bardstown Road interchange (mile point 18.80). 

Type of Work: Pavement rehabilitation project, subgrade repairs, and concrete slab replacements, including work at ramps/interchanges.

Other Details: The project is set to be completed in the fall of 2023. 

KY 841 North (Gene Snyder Freeway)

Traffic Impacts: Single lane closures.

Date/Time: Daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Monday, September 18, through Friday, September 22.

Project Limits: KY 841 North (Gene Snyder Freeway) from mile marker 36.5 to mile marker 37.5, near the East End Tunnel.

Type of Work: Crews will be performing routine maintenance work.

Other Details: Motorists are advised to heed signage and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

KY 1065 (Outer Loop)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays possible.

Date/Time:  Weekdays - 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. | Weekends - 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday

Project Limits: Grade Lane (mile point 0.0) extending east to Industrial Blvd (mile point 1.3).

Type of Work: Striping and intersection pavement markings.

Other Details: The Highway Safety Improvement Project will upgrade and enhance the lane striping and intersection pavement markings on Fern Valley Road at the I-65 interchange. Motorists should reduce speeds and obey traffic control while workers are present.

KY 1450 (Blue Lick Road)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures.

Date/Time: Weekdays.

Project Limits: Between I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and KY 61 (Preston Highway).

Type of Work: Major road widening.

Other Details: The contractor has the remaining items to complete – entrance/curbing installations, sodding, traffic signal and striping finalization, final roadway surface, and punch list completion. The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2023.

KY 1934 (Cane Run Road) at KY 1727 (Terry Road/Kaufman Lane)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures. 

Date/Time: Daily – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Nightly – 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Project Limits: Intersection of Cane Run Road, Terry Road and Kaufman Lane, near mile point 7.0.

Type of Work: Removal of concrete medians and restriping work for turning lane improvements.

Other Details: This project is set to be completed by the fall of 2023.

KY 3084 (Old Henry Road)

Traffic Impacts: Roadway/intersection closure.

Date/Time: This phase is set to be completed by Tuesday, September 19.

Project Limits: Intersection of Factory Lane and Old Henry Road.

Type of Work: Major roadway construction.

Scenic Loop in Cherokee Park

Traffic Impacts: Road closure.

Project Limits: Bridge over the Middle Fork of Beargrass Creek (mile point 1.796) in Cherokee Park.

Detour: Beals Branch Road, Lexington Road (U.S. 60A), and Cochran Hill Road.

Type of Work: Bridge replacement.

Other Details: The bridge will remain closed through project completion, which is expected for the late winter of 2023.

Jefferson County (Various Locations)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible as a part of a mobile operation.

Date/Time: Nightly – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Type of Work: Striping and pavement marker work.

Other Details: Motorists should provide plenty of space to crews displaying "WET PAINT" signage and be observant of slowed vehicles while moving through the work zone.

  
BULLITT COUNTY 
I-65 North and South

Traffic Impacts: Changing traffic patterns, lane shifts, and closures possible.

Date/Time: Daily/Nightly.

Project Limits: From mile marker 104.7 to mile marker 110.7 (Bullitt and Hardin Counties).

Type of Work: Full concrete pavement removal and asphalt pavement replacement. Other improvements to the corridor include bridge repairs, subgrade repairs, and guardrail repairs/installation.

KY 44 (Old Mill Road)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures. Motorists may be directed through the work zone via flagging operations as construction progresses.

Date/Time: Weekdays.

Project Limits: Between Eastbrooke Pointe Drive and Love Avenue.

Type of Work: Construction of a left turn lane and the relocation of a waterline at Bullitt East High School in Mt. Washington (mile point 23.7) is nearly complete. Site cleanup, corrective work, and the removal of equipment will continue throughout the next week.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2023.

KY 61 (Preston Highway)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures, shoulder closures, and delays are possible. Drivers will be directed through these work zones via flagging operations.

Date/Time: Wednesday, September 20, at 9 a.m.

Project Limits: Intersection of KY 61 (Preston Highway) and KY 2553 (Old Preston Highway). 

Type of Work: Traffic signal activation.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2023.

KY 480 (Cedar Grove Road)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible.

Date/Time: Daily – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Nightly – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Project Limits: Between Omega Parkway and Park Loop Road/Valley View Drive.

Type of Work: Road widening project.

Other Details: Possible lane closures for completion of the project including final striping and pavement markings, grading and seeding, installation of school flashers and general cleanup of project.

KY 1450 (W Hebron Lane)

Traffic Impacts: Daily lane closures possible.

Date/Time: Daily.

Project Limits: Beginning at KY 1526 (mile point 1.895), extending north to the Bullitt/Jefferson line at mile point 3.554.

Type of Work: Asphalt resurfacing with possible subgrade repairs.

Other Details: This project is set to be completed by the winter of 2023.

KY 2723 (Raymond Road)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures via flagging.

Date/Time: Daily – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Project Limits: Near mile point 2.1.

Type of Work: Milling and resurfacing.

Bullitt County (Various Locations)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible as a part of a mobile operation.

Date/Time: Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (avoiding peak travel times).

Type of Work: Striping and pavement marker work.

Other Details: Motorists should provide plenty of space to crews displaying "WET PAINT" signage and be observant of slowed vehicles while moving through the work zone.

  
FRANKLIN COUNTY 
U.S. 60 (Versailles Road)

Traffic Impacts: Nightly lane closures and delays possible.

Date/Time: Nightly – 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Project Limits: Mile point 11.556 (Brighton Park Boulevard) to mile point 12.184 (RJ Corman Bridge).

Type of Work: Asphalt resurfacing.

Other Details: This project is set to be completed in late fall of 2023.

I-64 East & West

 

Traffic Impacts: Traffic shifts and lane closures.

Date/Time: Monday, September 18, and Tuesday, September 19, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.  

Project Limits: Mile marker 51.5 (bridge over KY 2817/Cardwell Lane).

Type of Work: Both westbound and eastbound traffic will be shifted to the outer lanes and shoulders as contract crews perform prep work for the demolition of the bridge over KY 2817/Cardwell Lane (mile point 51.5).

Detour: Oversized vehicles are alerted to an 11-foot width restriction for eastbound and westbound directions in the construction zone. These vehicles can utilize U.S. 60 and U.S. 127 as a detour.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.

KY 420 (Old Lawrenceburg Road)

Traffic Impacts: Daily lane closures possible.

Date/Time: Daily.  

Project Limits: From U.S. 127S at mile point 0, to KY 676 (East-West Connector Road) at mile point 2.145.

Type of Work: Asphalt resurfacing.

Other Details: This project is set to be completed by the winter of 2023.

KY 1659 (Glenns Creek Road/McCracken Pike)

Traffic Impacts: Complete roadway closure due to a 500-foot slide caused by heavy rain and flooding.

Date/Time: Daily/Nightly.

Project Limits: The slide is between Glenns Creek Road/McCracken Pike/KY 1659 (mile marker 1) and Harrod Carter Concrete (mile marker 2).

Detour: KY 1681 (Duncan Carter Road) to U.S. 60 (Versailles Road) to KY 676 (East-West Connector Road).
Type of Work: Slide repair and roadway reconstruction.

Other Details: This project is set to be completed in the fall of 2023.

KY 2261 (Holmes Street)

Traffic Impacts: Daily and nightly lane closures possible.

Date/Time: Daily/Nightly.  

Project Limits: KY 420 (mile point 0) to Meagher Avenue (mile point .790).

Type of Work: Pavement rehabilitation.

Other Details: This project is set to be completed by the winter of 2023.

KY 2817 (Cardwell Lane)

Traffic Impacts: Road closure.

Date/Time: Thursday, September 21, and Friday, September 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Project Limits: KY 2817 (Cardwell Lane) from mile point 1.7 to mile point 1.8.

Type of Work: Contract crews will work to demo the I-64 bridge over KY 2817. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions on I-64.

Franklin County (Various Locations)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible as a part of a mobile operation.

Date/Time: Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (avoiding peak travel times).

Type of Work: Striping and pavement marker work.

Other Details: Motorists should provide plenty of space to crews displaying "WET PAINT" signage and be observant of slowed vehicles while moving through the work zone.

  
HENRY COUNTY 
KY 146 (LaGrange Road)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures.

Date/Time: Weekdays – 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Project Limits: Beginning east of Bartlett Fork Bridge (mile point 5.421) extending east to the west of Bartlett Fork Bridge (mile point 6.498).

Type of Work: Asphalt resurfacing and cross drain replacement.

Other Details: This project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2023. Motorists may be directed through the work zone via flagging operations as construction progresses.

KY 146 (LaGrange Road)

Traffic Impacts: Road closure.

Date/Time: Saturday, September 16 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Project Limits: From mile marker 4.5 to mile marker 4.7 (near Broko Lane).

Type of Work: Cross drain construction as part of major roadway reconstruction.

Other Details: This project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2024.

U.S. 421 (Castle Highway)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible.

Date/Time: Daily – 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Project Limits: Beginning at KY 22 (mile point 7.854) extending north to KY 3322 (mile point 10.426).

Type of Work: Pavement striping and rumble strip installation.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed by fall of 2023.

KY 1861 (Sunnyside Road)

Traffic Impacts: Full closure of the bridge over Jackson Creek.

Date/Time: Beginning August 16 through project completion.

Project Limits: From mile marker 3.925 to mile marker 3.935.

Detour: Local access only. Motorists should seek alternative routes and follow detour signage.

Type of Work: Bridge replacement.

Other Details: This project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2023.

Henry County (Various Locations)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible as a part of a mobile operation.

Date/Time: Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (avoiding peak travel times).

Type of Work: Striping and pavement marker work.

Other Details: Motorists should provide plenty of space to crews displaying "WET PAINT" signage and be observant of slowed vehicles while moving through the work zone.

  
OLDHAM COUNTY 
KY 53 (LaGrange Road)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and traffic shifts. Motorists will be directed through these work zones via flagging operations.

Date/Time: Daily/Nightly. *There are no time restrictions on daily lane closures.

Project Limits: Between KY 55 in Shelby County and KY 22 in Oldham County.

Type of Work: Safety improvements include widening shoulders, the extension of culvert pipes, ditch cleaning, and tree clearing.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in fall 2023.

I-71 North and South

Traffic Impacts: Shoulder closures in both directions.  

Date/Time: Daily/Nightly.

Project limits: Between mile marker 19.5 and mile marker 21.5.

Type of Work: Construction of new interchange ramps at KY 2857 (LaGrange Parkway) between KY 53 and KY 393.

Other Details: Motorists should heed any restrictions, proceed through the work zone with caution, or seek an alternate route. The expected completion date for the interchange project is the fall of 2024.

KY 329B (Veterans Memorial Parkway)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures, shoulder closures, and delays are possible. Motorists will be directed through these work zones via flagging operations.

Date/Time: Weekdays.

Project Limits: At mile marker 1.16 (near Kenwood Station Elementary School).

Type of Work: Traffic signal installation.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2023.

KY 1793

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures.

Date/Time: Preliminary work has begun, and work will continue throughout the weekdays (excluding peak hours of school drop-off/dismissal times).

Project Limits: From mile point 0.31 to mile point 0.66, near the North Oldham High School, North Oldham Middle School and Harmony Elementary School campuses.

Type of Work: This project includes improvements to pedestrian facilities by installing crosswalks across KY 1793 at Hampton Circle/Harmony Elementary and Longwood Lane/North Oldham Middle and High School campuses. The crosswalk additions will include Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs).

Other Details: This project is expected to be completed by late fall of 2023. Motorists may be directed through the work zone via flagging operations as construction progresses.

KY 3084 (Old Henry Road)

Traffic Impacts: Roadway closure.

Project Limits: From KY 3084 (mile point 0) to KY 262/Ash Avenue (mile point .32).

Type of Work: Construction of a 3-lane roadway.

Other Details: This project includes grading work, drainage, and asphalt surface with the bridge. The project is expected to be completed in the winter of 2024/2025. *Continuation of KY 3084 project listed under Jefferson County.

Oldham County (Various Locations)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible as a part of a mobile operation.

Date/Time: Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (avoiding peak travel times).

Type of Work: Striping and pavement marker work.

Other Details: Motorists should provide plenty of space to crews displaying "WET PAINT" signage and be observant of slowed vehicles while moving through the work zone.

  
SHELBY COUNTY 
KY 44 (Southville Pike)

Traffic Impacts: Intermittent lane closures and delays are possible.

Date/Time: Daily.

Project Limits: From Shelby/Spencer County line, extending east to KY 53/KY 714 (mile point 3.2).

Type of Work: Asphalt resurfacing.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in summer of 2023.

KY 53 (LaGrange Road)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and traffic shifts. Motorists will be directed through the work zone via flagging operations and temporary traffic signals.

Date/Time: Daily/Nightly.

Project Limits: Between KY 55 in Shelby County and KY 22 in Oldham County. *There are no time restrictions on daily lane closures.

Type of Work: Safety improvements include widening shoulders, the extension of culvert pipes, ditch cleaning, and tree clearing.

Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in fall 2023.

Shelby County (Various Locations)

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and delays are possible as a part of a mobile operation.

Date/Time: Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (avoiding peak travel times).
