Traffic Impacts 

Drivers should anticipate lane shifts, periodic lane closures, and detours throughout construction.
During peak travel hours, two lanes will remain open in each direction on I-64.

Week of Sunday, Aug. 10: ​

  • Alternating lane closures will occur on I-64 West at mile marker 35 (near the KY 53 bridge over I-64) from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, to 1 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13. The lane closures are necessary for contract crews to continue work on the KY 53 bridge over I-64.

  • Additionally, I-64 West will be reduced to one lane from mile marker 28 (near KY 1848/Buck Creek Road) to mile marker 32 (near KY 55/Taylorsville Road) from 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, to 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, and from 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, to 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. The lane closures are necessary for contract crews to perform base failure repairs along the interstate.

  • Daily Rolling Roadblocks – Blasting Operations (I-64 East and West - MP 36 to MP 37)

    Beginning Wednesday, July 9, daily blasting operations will take place on I-64 East and West between mile points 36 and 37. Rolling roadblocks will occur between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.  Traffic may be slowed or stopped for up to 15 minutes during blasting operations. Motorists should expect travel delays and consider alternate routes.​​​

  • Traffic is currently shifted to the outside shoulders on I-64 East and West from mile point 32.29 to mile point 38.3 as contract crews continue work in the middle lanes as part of the widening of the interstate. 

  • ​Contract crews are currently reconstructing the KY 2861 (Zaring Mill Road) bridge over I-64 following its demolition in early May.
