To provide for the professional acquisition of required right of way; the orderly relocation of affected families, businesses, and utilities; the safety improvements to highway railroad crossings; and the fair and equitable treatment of all citizens.​

EXCESS / SURPLUS LANDS BRANCH RESPONSIBILITIES

Here you will find information on our current inventory of properties for sale. This is your source for information on upcoming sales and auctions by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Relocation Branch for Right of Way Excess/Surplus Land. Information will be updated frequently, so please check back often.

All auctions are open to the public and normally conducted either by an oral or sealed bid format. In most cases, a minimum bid amount is set before the auction. By statute, all sales are subject to final approval of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

PROCESS TO PURCHASE STATE RIGHT OF WAY

To purchase state right of way, you will need to get in contact with the Property Management contact within the district you are wanting to purchase the right of way. Contact information for each district can be found at the bottom of this page.​​

Each district office retains a Right of Way Supervisor and a Utility Supervisor to address the needs of public Cabinet projects. The Cabinet retains most project-specific Right of Way and Utility work in these district offices, which are located in 12 districts.
