February 9, 2024 - At the Preliminary Line and Grade meeting on July 16, 2019, the Project Team recommended Alternative No. 2 (5-Lane) as the preferred alternative for advancement with Phase II Final Design. Alternative No. 2 (5-Lane) extends the existing 5-Lane typical section to provide a continuous 5-Lane section from New Circle Road to Man-O-War Boulevard. The 5-Lane typical section provides a better level of service and less delay time for all scenarios compared with Alternative No. 1 (3-Lane).
ROW acquisition has begun and will continue into next year (2025). The project construction will begin once the right-of-way and utility relocations are complete if funding has been appropriated in the highway plan.
December 22, 2023 - KYTC and our design consultant, Strand, have completed the Right of Way plans. The appraisals will begin soon. Property owners will be contacted by independent appraisers working for KYTC in the next several months. Once the appraisals are completed, right of way acquisitions will begin and proceed through 2024. Utility companies will begin their relocation designs and will be moving impacted utilities over the next year. The project construction will begin once the right-of-way and utility relocations are complete if funding has been appropriated in the highway plan.
April 30, 2019 - The project is set to begin the final design phase. Over 300 survey questionaires were received for the public during the comment period following the public meeting on April 30th. Considering those comments, project estimates, and engineering analysis, the Project Team has chosen Alternative 2 as the preferred alternative. The preliminary view of Alternative 2 can be reviewed at the link on this page. It uses a 5-lane typical section with a sidewalk on one side and shared use path on the other side. From here, the project team will be working on the detail design of that alternative with efforts to minimize the impacts to the properties, utilities, and traveling public. This process takes months to accomplish. Final plans for public review will be ready around May 2020. The continued progress of the project will be dependent on continued funding in the State Highway Plan. Any questions about the project progress can be addressed to the Project Manager listed on this page.
