The bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic since 1993 and was later closed to pedestrians. A Bridge Conversion Feasibility Study of Broadway Street (KY 3506) over the Kentucky River was completed in August 2019 and concluded that the bridge is in “imminent” failure condition with a rating of 1 out of 9 according to the Federal Highway Administration’s rating guidelines. The rating reflects the major deterioration and section loss on major structural components and the fact that the bridge is currently closed.
