​The Roadside Environmental Team coordinates the following programs:

• Roadside Vegetation Management​
• Weed Control Program
• Statewide Mowing Strategy
• Right-of-Way Tree Management​
• Roadside Pollinator Conservation
• Rest Area, Welcome Center, Truck Haven, and Loadometer (Weigh Station) Maintenance and Construction ​​

​The team also oversees:

• Weather Response and Activities
• This includes snow and ice activities around the state each winter, maintaining the salt stockpile, disaster and emergency response, and providing any technology that aids and enhances these activities. 
  
• The Sign Shop
• The Sign Shop manufactures and distributes standard signs for state and federal roads and highways throughout Kentucky and creates specialty, made-to-order signage for other state agencies.​
  
• The Recycling Center
• The Recycling Center recycles, reuses, and repurposes guardrail and other metal components. They may straighten and re-galvanize them for use on the roadway, or repurpose them for use as cribbing for roadway slides.

• Inmate Crews
• ​Inmate crews assist with roadside clean-up and mowing.

• ​This list includes whether a family restroom is available at a rest area. Please note that there are currently only two rest areas with family restrooms. This list is updated regularly and will reflect any additions to other rest areas.​
