Interstate 65 in Louisville will close between the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and downtown Louisville (Jefferson Street) from June 1- July 31 to speed progress on replacing 3 aging bridges.
The closure will save at least a year of construction restrictions, and a signed detour will be in place. Local street closures and ramp closures will also be needed.

Widening to begin on KY 393 in Oldham County

Louisville, KY (January 12, 2016) - Construction is scheduled to begin next week on the widening of KY 393 in Oldham County between Interstate 71 and just north of Commerce Parkway. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) awarded a $5 million contract for completion of this project near Buckner.

KY 393 will be widened from two lanes to four lanes in this half-mile section of roadway. Turning lanes will also be added at the intersection with Commerce Parkway.

“This project is part of an overall plan to widen KY 393 from I-71 to the entrance of Wendell Moore Park,” stated Matt Bullock, Chief District Engineer for the Department of Highways District 5 Office in Louisville.  “The roadway will be relocated east of the Oldham County Schools property and a new underpass will be built to replace the existing railroad crossing at KY 146.”

Work on KY 393 between I-71 and Commerce Parkway is scheduled to begin the week of January 18. Contract crews will install work zone signage and begin clearing trees and brush. Utility relocation work will take place during the initial phases of construction. Roadway excavation will take place later this spring.

Two lanes of traffic on KY 393 will be maintained during the majority of the construction work. Some lane closures will be necessary, but will be prohibited during peak travel times. Lane closures are possible daily from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and evenings from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.  The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 45 MPH.

Louisville Paving Company was awarded this contract with construction scheduled for completion in June 2017.
