Emergency closure of KY 2259 in Franklin County

Louisville, KY (August 12, 2015) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists that KY 2259 (Shelby Street) is closed at the intersection with 4th Street in downtown Frankfort.  A portion of the pavement at this intersection has collapsed due to a large hole that has formed in the ground underneath the roadway.

KYTC maintenance staff have closed the intersection of Shelby Street and 4th Street to traffic.  Crews will spend the evening filling the hole below the roadway with concrete. Once this material has cured, they will patch the roadway with asphalt. This intersection will remain closed until late in the day on Thursday, August 13.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Dial 511 or log on to 511.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5 and www.twitter.com/KYTCDistrict5 .
