Interstate 65 in Louisville will close between the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and downtown Louisville (Jefferson Street) from June 1- July 31 to speed progress on replacing 3 aging bridges.
The closure will save at least a year of construction restrictions, and a signed detour will be in place. Local street closures and ramp closures will also be needed.

NEW TRAFFIC SIGNAL ACTIVATION ON KY 1848 AT INTERSTATE 64

Louisville, Ky. (July 11, 2014) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announces activation of new traffic signals at the interchange of KY 1848 (Buck Creek Road) and Interstate 64 in Shelby County.  The signal heads are currently in place and will be activated the week of July 14.

Three new traffic signals were built as part of interchange improvements at Interstate 64/KY 1848 interchange in Simpsonville.  Traffic signals have been installed at the exit ramps from both eastbound and westbound I-64.  These signals will improve traffic flow for vehicles entering and exiting the interstate at Exit 28.

In addition, a traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of KY 1848 and KY 1399 (Veechdale Road) near the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass.

KYTC staff will test the signals and adjust the timing early next week.  The signals will be placed on flash for a couple of days to make motorists aware of the new traffic conditions.  All three traffic signals should be changed from flash to normal operation by the end of the week.

The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Dial 511 or log on to 511.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Traffic information for the District 5 counties is also available at www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5.
