Manufacturing of customized bearings now complete
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 9, 2020) -The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises the public of on-site repair work scheduled to begin next week on the ramp from KY 61 (Preston Highway) to I-265 West (Gene Snyder Freeway) in Jefferson County. Contract crews will mobilize on-site beginning the week of September 14.
The repair work is being performed as part of a master agreement with Jave LLC of Lexington. New customized bearings for the bridge have been fabricated in off-site facilities and will be delivered to the site. On-site work is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.
The ramp was closed in May after advanced pier deterioration was found during a routine inspection. Motorists should continue to take the following detour:
KY 61 North (Preston Highway) to I-265 East to Smyrna Road (Exit 14) to reconnect with I-265 West
