Speed Limit Reduction Coming to a Portion of U.S. 42 in Oldham County
Reduction to take effect beginning July 8

LOUISVILLE, KY (July 6, 2020) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a speed limit reduction on a portion of U.S. 42 in Oldham County beginning this week. The speed limit will be reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph from mile marker 1 to mile marker 2.9. This roughly 2-mile section of road is currently bordered by 45 mph speed zones. The new speed reduction will create a continuous 45 mph zone from the Jefferson County line through Goshen.

As part of the reduction, the school zone on U.S. 42 in front of Harmony Elementary, North Oldham Middle School, and North Oldham High school will be reduced to 35 mph. KYTC crews are scheduled to replace the current speed limit signs on Wednesday, July 8.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Visit goky.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5 and twitter.com/KYTCDistrict5.
