The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is exploring improvements in Oldham County at the junction of KY 22, KY 146 and a railroad crossing.
The downtown Crestwood intersection has undergone a series of spot improvements in recent years but has continued to experience a relatively high number of traffic incidents and ease-of-navigation concerns for semi-trailer trucks.
KY State Police records showed 208 incidents on KY 22 and KY 146 within 0.5 miles between January 2019 and July 2024. Semi-trailer trucks having difficulties making turns is a major issue.
KYTC is working with its engineering partners to develop proposed alternative designs – two on the south side and one on the north – that would improve conditions while minimizing impact to local businesses.
KYTC is seeking public feedback during its comment period on proposed alternatives to develop practical solutions and improvement concepts while making safety, performance and efficiency top priorities.
The purpose of the project is to improve safety, capacity and system reliability around the existing intersection and railroad crossing at KY 22 and KY 146.
The intersection has undergone a series of spot improvements in recent years but has continued to experience a relatively high number of traffic incidents and continued concerns about difficult turns for trucks.
