Purpose

Reconstruction, realignment of KY 393 just north of the I-71 interchange to KY 146 to include an underpass to replace the existing at-grade railroad crossing.
Project Scope

The $66 million infrastructure investment will enhance safety, improve traffic operations, and support continued regional growth by eliminating two at-grade railroad crossings through the construction of new rail-over-road bridges, as well as roadway widening and intersection improvements.

The project includes reconstruction and realignment of KY 393 north of the I-71 interchange to KY 146 and Allen Lane from the Commerce Parkway/Ernie Harris Parkway intersection to KY 146, and the construction of two rail-over-road bridges to replace existing at-grade railroad crossings. These improvements are designed to reduce train-vehicle conflicts, improve mobility, and increase long-term reliability for motorists traveling through the corridor.

Additional improvements as part of the project include:

  • Widening and reconstruction of KY 393, including expanded travel lanes and turn lanes
  • Construction of a new KY 393 extension connecting to KY 146
  • Widening and reconfiguration of Allen Lane from Commerce Parkway to KY 146
  • Intersection improvements at Ernie Harris Parkway and Spring House Pike
  • Addition of dedicated turn lanes at KY 146 and Allen Lane

Once underway, early project activities will continue through June and will include off-roadway preparation work. While much of this initial work will occur outside of the travel lanes, motorists should anticipate changing traffic patterns, intermittent lane closures, and possible flagging operations as the project progresses. Traffic Impacts will be shared via our Roadshow report linked here

Blasting operations will be required during certain phases of construction and are expected to occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. During blasting activity, traffic will be temporarily halted in the immediate area to protect the safety of both motorists and crews.

Type of Project

This roadway reconstruction project will provide safety and operational improvements, including an underpass to replace the existing at-grade railroad crossing.
