The KY 245 (Clermont Road) widening and improvement project will widen KY 245 (Clermont Road) from two lanes to four lanes along 1.8 miles of the highway between the Interstate 65 interchange and Happy Hollow Road. Left turn lanes will also be added beginning at the easternmost I-65 ramps and extending to Happy Hollow Road to improve traffic efficiency and reduce congestion.

In addition to widening, the project includes the construction of a multi-use path designed to better accommodate pedestrians and cyclists. The new path will connect the Bernheim Forest walking trail on the south side of KY 245 to the Bernheim Bike Hike Trail on the north side, creating a safer and more accessible crossing opportunity. Plans also include the construction of a dedicated pedestrian bridge, enhancing recreational and corridor safety.

As a critical commuter and freight link, KY 245 serves local residents and businesses between Bullitt County and the City of Bardstown as well as visitors traveling to Bernheim Forest and other tourist destinations.

This KYTC highway improvement project is designed to increase safety, enhance KY 245's capacity, and address anticipated traffic growth as residential and commercial development expands across the region.

Construction is scheduled to begin on or after Monday, Feb. 23. Initial construction activities will include clearing operations to prepare the roadway for widening. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone, and shifting traffic patterns as crews mobilize. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, remain alert, and use caution when traveling through the area.

Construction is expected to continue through Fall 2027, under a $16.8 million contract awarded to Louisville Paving Company, INC. of Louisville, Ky. KYTC will continue to provide updates as work progresses. Project Press Release
