Lane closure, width restriction in effect for Mountain Parkway in Powell County

Bridge repair and pavement rehab project to last until November

JACKSON, KY – A pavement rehabilitation and bridge repair project on the Mountain Parkway that begins today will result in lane closures and width restrictions between the Stanton and Slade exits in Powell County.

The work zone begins at Exit 22 in Stanton and extends approximately five miles to the KY 613 bridge near Bowen at milepoint 27.36. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Loads wider than 11 feet will be required to exit the Mountain Parkway and use an alternate route. Eastbound wide-load traffic should use Exit 22 at Stanton and follow KY 213 north to KY 11/KY 15 south to Slade, and re-enter the parkway via KY 11. Westbound wide loads should use Exit 33 at Slade and follow KY 11/KY 15 north to Stanton, then KY 213 south to re-enter the parkway.

The speed limit in this work zone will be reduced to 55 miles per hour. Drivers should adjust their travel times accordingly and be prepared for some slight delays.

The work is expected to continue until Nov. 1.
