Public meeting set for KY 377 reconstruction in Rowan County
June 5, 5-7 p.m. at Tilden Hogge Elementary School
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (May 27, 2014) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to smooth out the hills and curves along Cranston Road (KY 377) in Rowan County, and that effort begins with a public meeting in June.
Residents, motorists and others concerned about the roadway may attend the meeting 5-7 p.m. June 5 at Tilden Hogge Elementary School to learn more about the project.
State highway engineers and design consultants will be on hand to answer questions and take comments. They will have maps showing planned improvements along eight miles of KY 377 from its KY 32 intersection to the KY 799 intersection at Triplett, and will have handouts detailing project information.
Proposed changes are focused on improving the highway’s safety and capacity, and include widening travel lanes, replacing old bridges, adding turn lanes and wide shoulders to help prevent run-off-the-road crashes, and shifting the path the road takes through Cranston and Triplett to reduce the sharp curves and hills there now. The project, which currently includes funding for design, right of way purchases and utility relocation, will also boost connectivity to the state transportation network.
The June 5 meeting will be an open-house format. The public may come at any time between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to review plans, discuss the project and express their views concerning the social, economic, historic and environmental effects the proposed project will have upon individuals, businesses, cultural resources and other organizations in the area and community.
In addition, information concerning Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act will be available for anyone interested in signing up for this important process.
Oral and written statements concerning the project will be accepted during the meeting, and comments may be submitted in writing for a period of 15 days afterward to Kentucky Department of Highways District 9, P.O.
