Interstate 65 in Louisville will close between the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and downtown Louisville (Jefferson Street) from June 1- July 31 to speed progress on replacing 3 aging bridges.
The closure will save at least a year of construction restrictions, and a signed detour will be in place. Local street closures and ramp closures will also be needed.

Advisory: Traffic impacts on KY 784, KY 1458, AA Highway in Greenup County; KY 854 in Boyd County

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (May 23, 2014) – While no road work is expected over the Memorial Day holiday, repairs will require closures and one-lane traffic on KY 784, KY 1458 and the AA Highway in Greenup County, as well as KY 854 in Boyd County, for the next several weeks.

KY 784 Closure

Beginning Tuesday, May 27, Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 crews will close KY 784 at the 5.7 mile marker from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day through Friday, May 30, to make culvert repairs and replace cross drains under the roadway. The road will be closed in the Samaria area between Elton Smith Road and Harlow Hollow. The roadway will reopen at night, although it might be one lane.

All through traffic on KY 784 should reroute using KY 2 or KY 1 in Greenup County or KY 7 and the AA Highway in Carter County during closure times, and should watch for temporary traffic signals at night.

Motorists should also expect work in the KY 784 area the next several weeks, with traffic controlled by flaggers at times.

KY 1458 One Lane

Also Tuesday, May 27, crews will continue drainage work and embankment repairs on KY 1458 from Flatwoods in Greenup County to KY 5 at the Boyd County line. Work will take place through Friday, May 30, and the first week of June, with traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals or flaggers. Motorists should expect delays during daytime work hours.

AA Highway at Greenup

Contractors are working to pave the AA Highway from KY 7 to the Greenup Locks and Dame, and are widen a mile of the AA Highway (KY 10) from the US 23 intersection to the river crossing. Work taking place near the dam will cause intermittent one-lane traffic, and temporary delays. Paving could cause temporary lane shifts.

Motorists should watch for frequent traffic changes, heed all flaggers and warning signs, and slow down to protect both themselves – the majority of work zone crashes injure drivers – and construction workers.

KY 854 in Boyd County

State highway crews are repairing and replacing drainage structures on KY 854 in the Garner area of Boyd County in preparation for blacktopping operations later this summer. Work will resume Tuesday, May 27, and motorists can expect one-lane traffic controlled by flaggers during daytime work hours for the next several weeks. Delays are possible.

In addition, crews and contractors throughout the Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 northeastern counties are mowing roadsides. Motorists on Interstate 64 and other four lane routes should watch for mowing tractors near traffic lanes. On other roadways, mowers could impact traffic. Please drive slowly in mowing work zones to keep yourself and workers safe.
