Traffic Advisory: No right turns, I-64 WB ramp to KY 1/7 north at Grayson

Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14-15

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Oct. 13, 2017) – Contractors working on concrete pavement at KY 1/7 intersection at the I-64 overpass in Carter County will restrict interstate ramp traffic this weekend.

Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14-15, right turns from the I-64 westbound off ramp at Grayson – Exit 172 – to north KY 1/7 will not be allowed.

Interstate motorists needing access to KY 1/7 north or the AA Highway must turn south then turn around or seek alternate routes.

The work is part of a $1.2 million pavement improvement that includes replacing blacktop with new concrete pavement on KY 1/7 between the interstate overpass and C.W. Stevens Boulevard, including at the westbound I-64 on and off ramps – similar to what was done last year on the city side of the overpass.

Because of the high volume of traffic at the interstate overpass, lengthy delays are possible during construction. Motorists should adjust travel plans accordingly, or seek alternate routes. Pedestrians must use the side of the highway that's not under construction.

In addition to new concrete pavement, this project will also provide new guardrail, drainage repairs, and new traffic lights at the KY 7 and westbound I-64 on and off ramps; and the concrete at the KY 1947 and C.W. Stevens Boulevard intersection will be refinished.

Mountain Enterprises, Inc., has been awarded a $1,224,893 low-bid contract by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to complete the work. The project has a Nov. 15 completion date.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
