Traffic Advisory: Signal work to impact US 23 traffic at Catlettsburg next week
Delays, detours at 34th, 35, 36th streets begin Wednesday

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Dec. 5, 2019) – Work on a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet traffic signal upgrade project that will require significant traffic impacts at three US 23 intersections in Catlettsburg has been rescheduled.

Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 11, if weather allows, state highway crews will install new signal poles above US 23 and side streets at the 34th Street, 35th Street (US 60), and 36th Street (KY 3294) intersections in Catlettsburg.

Motorists should expect daily lane closures as crews work above the highway and streets beginning about 8:30 or 9 a.m. each day until finished. The following traffic impacts will occur for several days at each intersection over about the next two weeks:

  • One lane of US 23 will be closed and traffic could be stopped 30 to 45 minutes at a time as a safety precaution. Some side streets will be closed during work hours.
  • When work is taking place at Cannonsburg Road (KY 3294), expect stopped traffic, flaggers, lengthy delays.

There will be lengthy delays and detours each day crews are working. With the high-level of traffic in this area, please consider alternate routes or plan travel accordingly during construction.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
