Mason County’s Springdale Road closing to all through traffic in April
Part of $626,000 repair project

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (March 29, 2013) – A project to improve 2.15 miles of Springdale Road from KY 10 to Carmeuse Road in Mason County will require the road’s closure beginning in April.

On Monday, April 1, contractors will close the road to all through traffic for installation of T-rail in slip areas and bridge beam replacement. During the closure, which will continue throughout the month of April, motorists should follow the marked detour using Owl Hollow Road and watch for traffic notices on electronic message boards.

Under a $625,626.44 Kentucky Transportation Contract awarded to H.G. Mays Corporation, the project also includes pavement improvements, drainage work and intersection enhancements.

Springdale Road, which is a county road connecting KY 10 near Plumville with Carmeuse Road at Springdale along the Ohio River, has suffered multiple embankment and pavement failures in recent years. Local and state officials requested Transportation Cabinet funding for repairs.

The project, which began in late January, is expected to be complete this summer.
