Purpose	The existing two-lane roadway, with portions of three-lane sections between Dixie Highway and Greenbelt Highway, has created safety concerns along the corridor. The roadway experiences high traffic volumes and left-turn movements, which can lead to vehicle conflicts and create challenging conditions for motorists. Improving the roadway's design by providing a center left-turn lane increases the corridor's current operational capacity by moving left-turning traffic out of the through lanes. The addition of the multi-use path along the north side of the roadway and the sidewalk along the south side will help eliminate conflicts between cyclists & pedestrians, thus improving operational capacity.
Project Scope	Widen Greenwood Rd. to three lanes between Greenbelt Highway & Dixie Highway, including a sidewalk on the south side of the road and a multi-use path along the north side.

Project Timeline	Future Project Phases and completed work as of Fall 2026, and Subject to Change): Spring 2023 – Right-of-way acquisition completed for the preferred widening alternate. Winter 2024/2025 – Initial utility relocation coordination underway. Summer 2026 – Electric began relocating with relocations expected through 2027 and into 2028. Roadway construction to begin *after* utility relocations. Anticipate construction in 2029, depending on utility relocation progress and funding in the 2028 Highway Plan.* *The above project milestone dates are subject to change depending on the Cabinet's funding constraints and various other factors.*
Public Input and Stakeholder Input/Meetings	The initial public meeting held on 4/3/2001 presented the preferred alternative: a five–lane section. Due to right-of-way impacts that necessitated residential and business relocations and numerous utility relocations, it was determined that context-sensitive design solutions needed to be considered. On 3/29/2007, a second public meeting was held. This meeting presented the five-lane design, plus two three-lane options, including bike lanes. A three-lane context-sensitive design solution was ultimately selected in 2012 during the most recent preliminary design for the project.
