Purpose
An upcoming highway safety improvement project will improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and consider access needs along the U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) corridor from
Cedar Look Dr to Hillock
Drive in Jefferson County.
Increasing traffic volumes and a high number of access points contribute to frequent crashes along the corridor. As development continues, traffic demands on U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) are expected to grow even further.
Project Scope
U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road) from the Cedar Look Dr to Hillock Drive.
The proposed improvements include:
Construction of a right-turn lane at Ichabod Drive
Installation of a raised median from Major Lane to Hillock Drive
Addition of a right-turn-only lan
e at Hillock Drive
Construction of a left turn/U-turn at the U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road)/Brentlinger Lane intersection
Addition of a right-turn lane at Bartley Drive
Construction of a right-turn free-flow lane from the I-265 East off-ramp (Exit 17) to U.S. 31E (Bardstown Road)
Installation of new interstate panel signs and durable pavement markings
