Ramp Improvement Project Scheduled to Begin in Jefferson County This Weekend
Ramp and lane closures to take place

LOUISVILLE, KY (Aug. 26, 2020) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a ramp improvement project in Jefferson County starting this weekend. Concrete slab replacement and drainage upgrades will take place on multiple ramps.

As the project begins, the ramp to I-64 East from 9th Street and Market Street will be fully closed beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 28. Work on this ramp is scheduled to be completed by the end of September. Drivers can detour the area by taking 9th Street to the on-ramp at the intersection of 9th Street and Main Street. Variable message boards in the area will notify drivers of the closure. As part of the project, other weekend and overnight ramp closures are also possible intermittently at the following locations:

  • I-64 West to Market Street
  • 9th Street to I-64 West
  • Main Street/9th Street to I-64
  • I-64 East to Market Street

The project will also include various lane closures as needed. Work is not permitted during the Kentucky Derby, Labor Day, or the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The contract for this project was awarded to E & B Paving LLC in July in the amount of $4,595,950.67. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
