Interstate 65 in Louisville will close between the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and downtown Louisville (Jefferson Street) from June 1- July 31 to speed progress on replacing 3 aging bridges.
The closure will save at least a year of construction restrictions, and a signed detour will be in place. Local street closures and ramp closures will also be needed.

KY 1531 (Johnson Road) Planning & Environmental Linkage Study

PurposeKYTC is conducting a transportation planning study for KY 1531 (Johnson Road) from US 60 (Shelbyville Road) to Aiken Road in Jefferson County. The purpose of this study is to determine the need for potential improvements and then develop and evaluate short- and long-term concepts to address those needs.
Project Scope

This study includes an analysis of existing conditions along the corridor that will be used to develop improvement concepts that may support safe mobility and connectivity along KY 1531. Draft goals and objectives will be developed to evaluate the potential effectiveness of the concepts.  This study will consider:  

  • Improved mobility and connectivity throughout the corridor, including sight distance and shoulder modifications;
  • Impacts to the environment, including the Floyd Fork Watershed;
  • Safety improvements for the intersection with US 60 (Shelbyville Road) to include possible realignment of KY 1531; and,
  • Intersection improvements with Aiken Road.
