Purpose


The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is conducting a planning study evaluating potential improvements to KY 1065 (Outer Loop) from I-65 to KY 2052 (Shepherdsville Road) in Jefferson County. The Outer Loop Transportation Study will identify short-term and long-term improvements for the roughly three-mile corridor.

Public Input

The second and final public meeting was held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the South Central Regional Library, 7300 Jefferson Boulevard, in Louisville. 

The first of two public meetings for the Outer Loop Transportation Study was held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the South Central Regional Library. An online survey was available for public comment through March 6, 2026. ​

Project Timeline


The final study report, which is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2026, will include input from the initial and second public meetings.

Funding for the Design Phase is shown in the FY 2026-32 Highway Plan.  Additional funding to advance the project further must be secured in future Highway Plans* 

*The above-anticipated project milestone dates are subject to change due to changes in funding availability within the next Enacted Highway Plan.
