Project Scope
The section of KY 146 being improved is between KY 153 (Lake Jericho Road), south of the Interstate 71 interchange, and Broko Lane. That’s between mile points 2.169 and 5.333.
Type of Project
The project includes the paving of 2–12-foot lanes and 8-foot shoulders along with two (2) segments of shoulder widening on both sides of the road, known as Farm Vehicle Lanes, to accommodate the need for a safe pull over the area to check equipment and/or allow other vehicles to pass.
The segments to be widened are:
  • MP 3.29 to MP 3.41
  • MP 4.90 to MP 5.02
Also, with the project, minimal waterline will relocate and widen the bridge over the Little Kentucky River to accommodate the widened roadway.

Traffic/Construction
Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns and lane shifts as construction progresses. This may sometimes include being directed through the work zone via flaggers.
Signs notifying drivers of the upcoming work have been placed in the area.
Excavation and clearing of the land will follow. That phase will include the burning of debris in accordance with local guidelines. Excavation work is expected to advance to the point that requires the blasting of rock in early to middle April.
Motorists should expect traffic to be stopped in both directions for up to 20 minutes during the blasting. Drivers should heed any restrictions, proceed cautiously through the construction zone, or seek an alternate route.
