Bullitt County: KY 1450 (Blue Lick Road) Safety Improvement from KY 1526 (John Harper Hwy) to W. Triangle Lane – Project 5-80101

PurposeImprove safety and reduce congestion along KY 1450 (Blue Lick Road)

The design should address the lack of shoulder/recovery area and poor pavement condition, as well as the impedance of traffic due to multiple entrances to commercial and light-industrial developments along the route. Right of way and financial impacts should be minimized to the extent possible.
Project ScopeKY 1450 (Blue Lick Road) from KY 1526 (John Harper Highway) to W. Triangle Lane, including the influence areas of intersections.
Project Timeline

As of Spring 2024 (SUBJECT TO CHANGE):
  • KYTC has contracted with a consultant design company to perform the preliminary design and analysis. This is phase 1 of 2 design phases.
  • Phase 1 preliminary designs are complete and will be presented to the public at an upcoming meeting on Thursday, May 9, at Hebron Middle School from 5-7 p.m. 
  • Another contract would be procured to produce Phase 2 plans.
  • The Right of Way phase may be funded in fiscal year (FY) 2025 (if deemed necessary by design plans).
  • A Utility phase may be funded in FY 2026.*
  • A Construction phase may be funded in FY 2027.*

*The above project milestone dates are subject to change depending on the cabinet's funding constraints.
Public and Stakeholder 
Input/Meetings
  • Greeting letters with questionnaires have been sent to the properties along the project's corridor. We are awaiting responses.
  • A Local Officials/Stakeholders Meeting was held on October 19, 2022 (virtual).
  • A second Local Officials/Stakeholders Meeting will be held in May 2024. 
  • Upcoming public meeting:
    Thursday, May 9, 2024, 5 - 7 p.m.

    ​The meeting will be an open-house event and those who are interested may drop in any time to review the preliminary design, receive handouts containing project information, and fill out comment sheets.

    An online survey will be made available following the public meeting. Over the next year, the final design phase will take place after the consideration of public feedback.
