KY 22 (Brownsboro Road) Highway Safety Improvement Project - Project 5-9044

Project Information: 

The proposed project will implement intersection safety and traffic improvements on KY 22 west of the I-265 interchange. This project will address safety concerns and recurring congestion to improve overall mobility and enhance safety along the corridor. The project will also include the construction of pedestrian facilities to fill in gaps in the existing sidewalk network.​​​

Plans: 

• Construction of a third driving lane between Hurstbourne and the I-265 southbound On-Ramp
• Construction of an additional left turn lane from KY 22 westbound to I-265 Southbound.
• Intersection safety improvements at the Simcoe Lane​ intersection.
• New asphalt surface and pavement markings within project limits.​
• Construction of pedestrian facilities and sidewalks.

Project Schedule: 

• No right-of-way or utility impacts expected.
• Final roadway and traffic design is underway, expected by the end of the year 2026.
• ​​Pending no delays, the project team anticipates advertising for letting Winter 2026/Spring 2027. This would allow for construction during Summer/Fall 2027.
• This project is fully funded by the Highway Safety Improvement Program, therefore no delays are anticipated due to funding availability.
