Greg Arvin from Estill County and Chuck Ward from Magoffin County to help represent Kentucky at southeastern Roadeo in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
JACKSON, KY – Two equipment operators from the Department of Highways District 10 earned top honors in individual competitions at the statewide Equipment Roadeo held July 21-22 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Greg Arvin from Estill County and Chuck Ward from Magoffin County will be among the Kentucky representatives competing at the 2015 Southeastern Regional Equipment Operators’ Roadeo and Safety Training Conference, to be held Sept. 14-17 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Arvin won the statewide competition in the single axle truck category, while Ward placed second. Arvin also finished second in the backhoe competition. Arvin had qualified for the state event by virtue of winning the backhoe competition at the district Roadeo, while Ward was the overall individual district winner. Arvin placed second statewide in the single axle truck competition last year.
“Once again, our district competitors have represented us well in the statewide Roadeo,” said Corbett Caudill, chief district engineer for District 10. “All of us in District 10 wish them the best of luck in the regional competition. Our equipment operators work long, hard hours to keep our roads safe and passable, and it’s always good for them to receive some special recognition for their efforts.”
In all, 12 equipment operators from Kentucky will be participating in the regional Roadeo.
