Daytime closures scheduled for US 460 in western Morgan County in late July

JACKSON, KY – Drivers who use US 460 in western Morgan County between Grassy Creek and Ezel will have to find an alternate route during daytime hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the second half of July. A project to replace five drainage structures will require the road to be closed. This will impact travel between West Liberty and Frenchburg.

Closure dates and locations are:

• Tuesday, July 16 – milepoint 8.875, east of KY 203 and near Old Grassy Cemetery and Hooten Hollow roads.
• Thursday, July 18 – milepoint 8.284, just west of KY 203.
• Tuesday, July 23 – milepoint 7.581, between Murphy Fork and Mize Church roads.
• Thursday, July 25 – milepoint 7.407, between Wright Cemetery and Murphy Fork roads.
• Tuesday, July 30 – milepoint 7.311, just west of Wright Cemetery Road.
  
   

Work will begin after 8 a.m. each day and will be completed by 10 p.m. Some aluminum box culvert installations may take fewer than 14 hours to complete. Work will be done as scheduled unless torrential rainfall occurs. Through traffic will be unable to pass through the repair sites while work is ongoing.

 
Once each drainage structure is replaced, drivers should expect rough pavement conditions until permanent paving is done.

 
No marked detour will be posted, but through US 460 traffic can use KY 772 and KY 705 as an alternate route. On the date of the first closure, traffic coming from KY 203 to eastbound US 460 may wish to take KY 191 and KY 205 through Hazel Green and Helechawa. For the remaining closures, traffic from KY 203 intending to turn onto westbound US 460 may wish to take KY 1010 through Hazel Green and Maytown. Electronic message boards have been placed to alert motorists to the closures and the suggested through detour route.
