Traffic Advisory: Slide repairs on KY 2078, KY 773 in Carter County
Temporary daytime closures next two weeks

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (April 11, 2019) – Motorists will encounter temporary road closures in Carter County this month as Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 crews and contractors begin a series of slide repairs.

On Monday, April 15, crews will start T-rail installation on KY 2078 (Garvin Ridge) just east of Williams Lane (milepoint 0.6) near Olive Hill to shore up the embankment where a slide has occurred. Work will take about three days and will require temporary closures of KY 2078 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the work location. Traffic may detour using US 60.

Once work is complete on KY 2078, by Thursday or Friday, April 18-19, depending on weather, crews will move to KY 773 just east of Mary Branch near the Lawrence County line (milepoint 10.3) for a similar T-rail installation and slide repair. Work will take about a week, and will also require the road to close 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the work location. Traffic may detour using KY 1 and KY 1496 through Willard and Hitchins.

During both slide repair projects, school bus, mail carrier and emergency service traffic will not be affected.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
