A total of 22.6 miles of I-75 passes through Rockcastle County which includes both four and six lanes of travel. This project will widen the remaining approximately 14 miles of four lanes to six lanes through the county to provide for safer travel for motorists by providing additional driving lanes to handle existing traffic capacity.
The remaining portion of roadway was divided into three sections which were awarded in two seperate projects. L-M Asphalt Partners LTC, d/b/a ATS Construction of Lexington, KY were awarded both projects.
Section 1 - Includes widening lanes beginning at mile point 69 extending south to mile point 64.5. Work began in March 2017 which included construction of replacing two existing overpasses along KY 3275 and KY 1505. Work was completed in 2018. Project cost $31 million.
Sections 2 & 3 - Includes widening lanes beginning at mile point 64.5 extending south to mile point 55.7. Work began in 2018, including replacement of two existing structures on KY 2793 and U.S. 25.
