Pilot Project Specific Highlights: District 4
The DPD initiative at KYTC recently has progressed with the District 4 Pilot Project. This project is in Grayson County; Leitchfield Bypass; KY 3155; Item No. 4-8954. At the end of February, a DPD and UAS presentation with the D4 section offices was held at the district office. This visit and discussion brought concerns of construction and maintenance to the surface and further follows the open lines of communication across disciplines that the initiative so greatly aims to achieve and maintain. The pilot’s Implementation Plan, field day visits for staff, training, design review tools, and software/equipment needs were also discussed. Within the Implementation Plan, highlights include special notes for contractor evaluation of Trimble Quadri tools; utility features modeled; drainage features modeled; addressing level of effort, deliverables, and keeping the designer available during construction. As KYTC shifts to a digital realm, the core team is also focusing on the designer review tools. This includes software tests and demonstrations. [03/06/24]
