Will a skid steer machine with a milling attachment be able to be used?

The Contractor will be allowed to use skid steer attachment if they can achieve the edge key transition per the Special Note in the contract. If not, a machine able to produce this will be required.

Are there bearings pads at the piers for Spans 1 and 3?

Spans 1 and 3 beams will be resting on ½ inch preformed cork material per standard drawing BDP-002-03.

Will the portable queue warning system be required?

Yes. An addendum will be posted.

When is the primary completion date?

The primary completion date is 11-30-24. Bridge must be opened to traffic on 10-1-24.

Could the requirements for the safety system on truss bridge be provided?

The Truss Bridge Superstructure section in the General Notes on plan sheet S2 provide additional details for the railing.

Could a bid item for Law Enforcement Officer be added?

Yes. An addendum will be issued.

Can additional information and details be provided for the Handrail-Pedestrian Aluminum, Bid Line 0420?

Plan sheet R002 shows railing for representation purposes only. The Type A1 shown on Standard Drawing RGX-030-07 is the type required on the project.

Will replacement of damaged tubular markers be paid?

The current quantity of tubular markers includes additional tubular markers to replace ones that are damaged. The Contractor will be paid for all tubular markers installed.

Could a bid item be added for the mechanical couplers required for the Finger Joint Replacements?

Mechanical couplers will be incidental and included in the Finger Expansion Joint bid item.

Have the bid items for “Pre-Drilling for Piles” and “Piles-Steel HP12X53” only been calculated to the base of Weathered Rock, and do not include Rock Socket into Solid Rock?

The bid items for “Pre-Drilling for Piles” and “Piles-Steel HP12X53” includes the rock socket into solid rock. Pre-Drilling is based off the recommendations in the geotechnical report and have been verified. Piling quantities shall be increased by addendum.

Could a traffic control plan sheet be added?

The Traffic Control Plan is shown on Pages 43 through 51 of 124. The Standard Drawings that apply references Standard Drawing TTC-115-04, Lane Closure Multi-Lane Highway Case 1, on Page 114 of 124. The Cabinet will not add an additional Traffic Control Plan sheet, but will offer the following suggestion for traffic control phasing: 1. Phase 1: Close a portion of the east side of CR 1124 (Legion Road) and construct the proposed full depth pavement in the southeast quadrant of the intersection to widen the east side of the Legion Road entrance and intersection radius. 2. Phase 2: Close the slow lane of US 68 (Martin Luther King Blvd.) and the west side of CR 1124 (Legion Road) and construct the proposed right turn lane and full depth pavement in the southwest quadrant of the intersection to widen the west side of the Legion Road entrance and intersection radius. 3. Phase 3: Construct the final surface under traffic using temporary lane closures and flagging. Note: The Contractor is the best judge of the Contractor’s resources, work operations/methods, and may schedule and perform the proposed work using reasonable project phasing and construction methods as long as the parameters provided in the Traffic Control Plan are followed.

What is material is the “Bit. Conc. Surface” and “Bit. Conc. Base” shown on plan sheet R2 base for tapering of overlays?

“Bit. Conc” is a reference to Bituminous Concrete or asphalt. This material will be paid with the “Cl 2 Asph Base 1.00D PG64-22” and “Cl2 Asph Surf 0.38D PG64-22” bid items.

Can more description be added to the bid item to clarify the repair work and associated bid items?

Yes. An addendum will be posted.

If fall protection/restraints are used 100% of time while working on the bridge, will a manned rescue skiff, or other water rescue devices, be required for work occurring over water?

Yes. See Section 107.01.01 in the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction.

Will the Type T631 Railing be Incidental to Maintain & Control Traffic?

The T631 railing needed for the maintenance of traffic shall be incidental to Maintain & Control Traffic.

Can the Contractor elect to try to drive piles 10-feet below bottom of cap on end bent 1 without predrilling?

A minimum length of 10 feet of pile must be installed. Should the driven pile not reach the full 10 feet, it shall be pulled and that location must be drilled. The Engineer will determine if that pile can be reused once pulled.

Does the quantity for Embankment in Place pay item include the flowable fill quantity?

As per note #5 on plan sheet R2A, 573 Cubic Yards of Embankment in Place are included in the quantities for the Culvert backfill. Contrary to Special Note 9V, Section 4.0, Flowable fill will be paid per cubic yard under the Embankment in Place bid item for this project.

Is flowable fill required for backfill material?

Yes.

Since millings are being taken to the state maintenance facility, will they be weighed at that site as well?

No, the contractor will have to make their own arrangements to obtain the weight of the trucks, either at the maintenance facility or off-site. The Department will use Section 408.04.01 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction to measure and calculate the final tonnage.
