The proposed bridge piers are extensions of the existing piers with two new columns as shown on Sheet S3 of Structure Plans 26194. The extensions are in line with the existing piers. The Department, coordinating with Glasgow Water Company, believes there is adequate distance between the piers and the water line and has intended to leave the existing water line in place. After further review of the depth and size of the proposed footing and with recent experience in similar situations, the Department understands that it may be necessary to relocate this facility once the contract is awarded.
