MANCHESTER, Ky. (Jan. 21, 2020) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that a portion of KY 413 at mile point 4.35 in Harlan County will be closed beginning today and is expected to reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.

The road closure is necessary to allow crews to perform slide repair operations.

KYTC asks motorists to be aware of the work zone, expect delays, and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Jan. 15, 2020) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that slide repair operations will begin on a portion of KY 2005 (mile points 1.000 – 3.000) in Harlan County on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and is expected to conclude on Wednesday, April 1.

Work and road closure hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Jan. 15, 2020) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that a portion of KY 89 from mile points 13.354 (intersection with Hooten Road) to 15.594 (intersection with Indian Springs Lane) in Jackson County will be closed on Monday, January 20.

The road closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is necessary to allow crews to perform a cross drain replacement.

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Dec. 18, 2019) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that a portion of I-75 northbound and southbound (right lanes) at mile points 29.0 – 34.0 will be closed on Thursday, December 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The lane closures are necessary to allow contractors to perform pothole repair operations. Motorists also need to be aware that the speed limit will be reduced to 55 miles per hour in the work zone, and double fines will be enforced.

KY 3472 (Memorial Drive) in Clay County will be closed beginning Wednesday, December 4

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Dec. 3, 2019) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 11 Office advises motorists KY 3472 (Memorial Drive) in Clay County will be closed between mile points 0.250 – 0.544 (city garage entrance – intersection with KY 3479 (Marie Langdon Drive)) starting Wednesday, December 4 at 7 a.m. and is expected to re-open on, Friday, December 6 at 6 p.m. 

The closure is necessary to construct the last portion of the new KY 3472 alignment from the intersection of the city garage to the intersection of KY 3479 (Marie Langdon Drive).  A signed detour will be in place.

The signed detour will be via KY 2438 to KY 2432 to KY 3472. Advent Health Manchester traffic will need to use the assigned detour.

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Nov. 25, 2019) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to have lane closures on northbound and southbound U.S. 25E bridges (mile point 7.0) in Bell County on Tuesday, November 26.

The U.S. 25E southbound bridge at mile point 7.0 will have lane closures from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. while the U.S. 25E northbound bridge at mile point 7.0 will have lane closures from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The lane closures are necessary to allow crews to perform bridge deck patching.

Motorists are advised to use caution during this period and be aware of signage, road crews, and other drivers. The work is dependent on weather conditions.

The road closure is necessary due to construction of the intersection of KY 2432 and the intersection of Marcum Street. A signed detour will be in place via U.S. 421 to KY 3472 to Rhodes Street to Jones Street.

MANCHESTER, Ky. (November 6, 2019) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 11 Office advises motorists the railroad crossing at KY 354 (Tobacco Road; mile point 0.596) in Laurel County will be closed beginning Friday, November 8 at 7 a.m., and is expected to re-open at 7 p.m. due to a rail crossing replacement.

Motorists may experience delays. A detour will be provided in an adjacent location.

​ Interstate 75 widening project in northern Laurel County to begin Monday, November 4

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Nov. 1, 2019) – Motorists traveling on Interstate 75 in northern Laurel County will soon notice the familiar orange barrels on the interstate.

The $67.4 million project is set to begin on Monday, November 4, and when completed, this section of I-75 will grow from four to six lanes and connect two adjacent segments of existing six-lane traffic. The new segment runs from just south of KY 909 to London, covering about 7.29 miles of roadway.

Planned improvements include widening between mile points 40.7 and 48, adding two new bridges on U.S. 25 over the interstate and adding truck climbing lanes at a steep grade in the roadway near Woods Creek Lake Dam.

Lane closures will be in effect in both northbound and southbound directions of Interstate 75 between mille points 40.0 to 49.0 beginning Monday, November 4, and they are expected to conclude Friday, Nov. 8. Work hours will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night.

The lane closures are needed for milling and asphalt paving operations. Motorists also need to be aware that the speed limit will be reduced to 55 miles per hour in the work zone, and double fines will be enforced.

ATS Construction was awarded the contract. The anticipated completion for the project is June 1, 2022.

(Oct. 31, 2019) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 11 Office advises motorists that Detherage Cemetery Road (CR 1162) at mile point 0.1 (Bush Creek Bridge) in Knox County will be closed for a bridge replacement beginning Monday, November 4 at 7 a.m.. It is expected to re-open on Thursday, December 19.

The closure is necessary due to bridge replacement operations. A signed detour will be in place during the closure.

This bridge is part of the Transportation Cabinet's Bridging Kentucky program. Bridges selected for the program include more than 1,000 state, county, and municipal structures that are rated in poor condition or have restricted weight limits. Each bridge addressed by the program will either be replaced with a new structure designed to last at least 75 years or rehabilitated to extend its life by at least 30 years. The closures are necessary to allow for construction of the next section of KY 30. A signed detour will be in place during the closure.

The road closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is necessary to allow crews to perform a cross drain replacement.

Bridge rehab project on KY 1601 in Harlan County set to begin on Thursday, Oct. 10

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Oct. 9, 2019) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 11 Office advises motorists that a bridge rehab project on KY 1601 (mile point 1.984) in Harlan County is set to begin Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. and is expected to conclude on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled with temporary signals for the duration of the project. The open lane width on the bridge will be 10 feet.

The lane closure is necessary due to a bridge superstructure replacement.

New/rebuilt traffic signals now active in Corbin

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Oct. 7, 2019) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 11 Office advises motorists that new/rebuilt traffic signals are now active in Corbin. The locations are listed below:

  • U.S. 25E at KY 1629 – this signal was removed and relocated approximately 350 feet south of the previous location. The new signal provides access to Ohler Road and Commonwealth Avenue. KY 1629 has been realigned and now accesses US 25E directly opposite the KY 312 (Master Street) approach.
  • U.S. 25E at Kroger – this signal was removed. Access to the Corbin Station/Kroger shopping center from US 25E is now right-in/right-out only. Alternatively, the shopping center can also be accessed from KY 312 (Master Street) or Commonwealth Avenue.
  • U.S. 25E at KY 312 – KY 1629 now accesses US 25E opposite KY 312.
  • U.S. 25E at Trademart – this signal was removed and relocated approximately 600 feet south of the previous location.
  • KY 312 at McDonald's has a flashing yellow arrow for permitted turns from Master Street.

Intermittent lane closures will take place during the project while work hours will be Monday thru Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

Mountain Enterprises, Inc. has been awarded the $2.3 million contract.

MANCHESTER, Ky. (Sept. 13, 2019) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 11 Office advises motorists that the traffic signal on U.S. 25 (mile point 16.383) at KY 490 in Laurel County will be inoperative for two weeks (Friday, Sept. 27) due to emergency repairs.

Stop signs will control side street traffic until the signal can be rebuilt. The traffic signal is a part-time signal so the intersection will function as it normally does at off-peak times. The side street traffic will have to stop and yield to traffic on US 25.
