Department of Highways Internship Opportunities

The Department of Highways internships provide career opportunities and hands-on work experience for high school juniors and seniors, high school graduates, and college students. Some of the opportunities available are:

Engineering (civil)
Diesel Mechanics
Welders
Equipment Operators (must be at least 18 years of age)
Network Communications

Other internships may be available. If you are interested in a specific field not listed, email kytc.internships@ky.gov.

Internship Qualifications

Be at least 17 years of age
Unrestricted driver's license preferred
Willingness to learn and take direction
High school students must have senior status if interning during the school year
High school students must be recommended by a teacher or other school official

Note: Rising Juniors and Seniors may work during the summer provided they are 17 years of age
