Public meeting scheduled on proposed
transportation improvements to KY 213 in Powell County
JACKSON, KY – Residents of Powell County are invited to attend a public
informational meeting to discuss a proposed project to improve KY 213 south of
Stanton.
The meeting will be held Thursday, March 19, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Stanton
Train Depot, 164 North Main Street, in Stanton.
A project is under development to make improvements to KY 213 (South
Main Street/Furnace Road) along a half-mile stretch between Sons Road and Reed
Court. The project would construct sidewalks and make roadway improvements to
better facilitate alternative transportation methods.
At this meeting, members of the public will be able to review
alternatives under consideration and provide comments. Representatives from the
Powell County Fiscal Court, City of Stanton, and Kentucky Transportation
Cabinet will be available to discuss the alternatives and answer questions.
This project is funded through the federal Transportation Alternatives
Program (TAP), which provides funding for surface transportation projects such
as on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities, infrastructure projects
for improving non-driver access to public transportation and enhanced mobility,
community improvement activities, environmental mitigation, and safe routes to
school projects. Information on TAP is available at https://go.usa.gov/xdfAS.
Persons with disabilities who wish to attend the meeting but have
special accessibility needs that require assistance should contact Jason
