An advisory committee meeting was held in July 2013 to discuss various issues, including operational/safety concerns, right-of-way impacts, local stream impacts, utility impacts, proposed roadway width, and pedestrian and bicycle use. This advisory committee comprised elected officials, emergency service agencies, and representatives from local neighborhoods. Information from the advisory committee was used to develop several design alternates for widening Beulah Church Road.
A second advisory committee meeting was held in June 2014. KYTC staff and representatives of the project consultant firm (GRW) presented the preliminary engineering designs developed to date and asked for additional input from local officials and concerned parties.
A public meeting was held in July 2014 to present three alternatives for widening Beulah Church Road between Cedar Creek Road and I-265. Comments were accepted through August 1, 2014. The information presented at the meeting can be found in the LINKS section above.
Since the public meeting and comment period in August 2014, the funding to advance the project was authorized. KYTC has contracted GRW Engineers, Inc. to develop the final roadway design for the 1.6-mile improvements to KY 864 from Cedar Creek Road, north along a new alignment to the intersection of Beulah Church Road and Cooper Chapel Road, then continuing north along the existing roadway to Rocky Lane, where the project ends just south of the I-265 interchange. (See in this column above the LINKS section to Supporting Documents: Project Location Map (2016) & KY 864 Preferred Alternate Typical Section (2016).
In June 2016, the Notice to Proceed with this project was issued. This notice is given to inform the design consultant that the project can proceed to the final engineering phase. The final engineering phase involves developing the final design plans and acquiring the right-of-way for the preferred Alternate 3.
