KY 1934 (Greenbelt Highway) Safety Study for Jefferson County

Purpose
​This transportation safety study will evaluate potential improvements to KY 1934 (Greenbelt Highway/Cane Run Road) that would improve safety for Kentuckians who rely on the heavily traveled state highway.

In partnership with Louisville Metro Government's transportation safety initiative, Vision Zero, the study will identify short-term and long-term safety and mobility enhancements for the roughly 11-mile corridor.​
​Project Scope
This study includes a full analysis of existing conditions along the corridor that will be used to develop practical solutions and improvement concepts to boost roadway safety and improve multi-modal transportation options.

The study area spans KY 1934 (Greenbelt Highway/Cane Run Road) from KY 841 (Gene Snyder Freeway) to KY 2054 (Algonquin Parkway). This study will provide a complete analysis of existing conditions along the corridor that will be used to develop practical solutions and improvement concepts to boost roadway safety and improve multi-modal transportation options.

*Input received from the August 13 public meeting and survey efforts will be compiled and considered as potential concepts are developed. Outreach will continue throughout the course of the study, with a second public meeting anticipated for this winter to collect input on potential improvement concepts.

    Devleop improvement concepts to present to the public.

    Second public meeting to get input of developed improvement concepts. 
  • Summer 2025: 
    Further develop and analyze selected concepts for study report.
  • Winter 2025/2026: 
    Final report and recommendations.
