The final asphalt surface northbound side is set to be completed in Fall 2024. The project's southbound lanes, northbound lanes, and bridge work completion date are anticipated for Fall 2024. Southbound Phase 2 (*Current) A barrier wall is to be installed northbound in advance of switching southbound traffic to the northbound lanes. Northbound will be utilizing the slow lane and outside shoulder.
Nightly lane closures of interstate and interchanges allowed from 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. will reduce I-65 southbound to one lane.
Shift two lanes of southbound traffic to the northbound inside lane & shoulder.
Final Phase (TBD) Shift southbound traffic back to the original traffic configuration to place the final asphalt surface on northbound lanes. Final Roadway treatments (such as markings, etc.)
Previous Phases: Phase 1A (June 2023) In order to maintain traffic flow during the duration of the project, the southbound work between mile marker 104.7 and mile marker 110.7 began on Monday, June 19. This work included pavement repairs, milling of the existing shoulder rumble strips, and the installation of blister lanes. The blister lanes (temporary emergency lanes) will serve as emergency pull-offs for motorists, as no shoulder will be present during the project. Traffic has been reduced to 2 lanes through the work zone in each direction.
Northbound Phase 1B (June 2023)
A barrier wall is to be installed southbound in advance of switching northbound traffic to the southbound lanes, which is anticipated to occur on Friday, July 7. Southbound will be utilizing the slow lane and outside shoulder.
Nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. will reduce I-65 southbound to one-lane.
Northbound Phase 1C (July 2023) Shift two lanes of northbound traffic to the southbound inside lane & shoulder.
