Once the surface has been rolled by the steel drum roller and the application has had a sufficient amount of time to lock the aggregate in, which could range from 30 minutes to 2 hours, 25 mph traffic can be permitted.  The contractor will be required to sweep the roadway clean before the end of the work day.

The closure duration will remain at 45 calendar days.  This project needs to be completed in an expedited fashion due to future bridge work planned for this area later this year.

Provided any dimensional and structural requirements of the wall are met and the pattern is monolithically cast into the panel; the method of applying the specified architectural treatment to each side of the wall shall be at the discretion of the contractor.

The pipe for this project is to be internally restrained using a Field Lok type gasket or equivalent, in addition all fittings and bends are to be restrained using Mega Lugs or equivalent.

The ARTIMIS camera on south west corner of the interchange with US 42 will not be impacted.

District 6 has made the approval process very similar to the approval process used on those projects, but the exact same people are not involved.  The Special Note for Sound Walls on this project have specific requirements for approval of these walls.

The plan view of the “Typical Commercial Entrance Full Depth Asphalt Pavement” on Sheet R2J shows a “dash” line indicating the projection of the gutter line which corresponds to the “2’” dimension on the asphalt section below the typical.  The gutter ends at the beginning of the radius to the entrance as shown on the plan sheets.  It does not continue across the entrance.

An addendum will be posted to remove the Liquidated Damages special note on page 244 and it will be replaced by a Law Enforcement Officer special note.   Page 178 refers to the Special Note for Fixed Completion Date and Disincentive Fees “A+B” beginning on page 224.  The Note beginning on page 224  does apply to both portions of  the overall project, Item No. 6-20002.10, and Item No. 6-14.50.  An addendum is being issued to revise portions of the Special Note for Fixed Completion Date and Disincentive Fees “A+B” beginning on page 224. 

The bid item for the crash cushions indicated in the maintenance of traffic plans is incorrect.  The correct bid item is Crash Cushion Type VI-BT and is covered by standard drawing RBE-100-10.  Any reference to a crash cushion in the maintenance of traffic plans shall be understood to be Crash Cushion Type VI-BT.  An addendum will be posted to correct the bid item.

Fuel and Asphalt Adjustments will not be bid as individual bid items on this project, however, Section 109 of the of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction price adjustments will apply if thresholds are met.

The Geotechnical reports will be posted in Project Related Information.

Shop drawings are a required submittal.  This submittal shall include plans, elevations, sections, details and attachments to other work.  All elements indicated to comply with appropriate design loads shall include structural analysis signed and sealed by a qualified Kentucky licensed professional engineer responsible for their preparation.  This includes sizing of indicated members, which will then be analyzed to determine their proper strength.

The Contractor has 45 calendar days to close the bridge in order to complete all work necessary to reopen the bridge to traffic.  The bridge will need to be re-opened 45 calendar days from the time it is closed, however other work that does not require closures can be performed until the completion date of June 1, 2019.

Contrary to Section 105.11 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Lighting shall be maintained by the contractor.  Lighting shall be maintained on the mainline interstate and all associated ramps between mile-points 177.5 and 183.3  Existing or proposed lighting must remain burning throughout the entire timeline of the project; from the date Notice to begin work is distributed until the Project Completion Notice is issued.  In the event that existing or proposed lighting cannot remain burning, temporary lighting shall be provided that meets the design parameters of the currently existing lighting.  In order to Maintain the lighting system, the successful bidder may need to investigate and or perform work in areas outside the work zones prescribed for both components of the overall project, Item No. 6-20002.10, and Item No. 6-14.50.  Maintaining the lighting system shall require the successful bidder to perform any work necessary to ensure all lights remain burning; all necessary work not specifically outlined by the highway plans shall be performed according to section 716 of the Standard Specifications.  In the event that maintaining the lighting system requires new poles, transformer bases or light arms, the cabinet will provide those; however all other materials and devices necessary to maintain the lighting shall be provided by the contractor.  Maintaining the lighting system shall be considered a component of the overall traffic control plan and shall be subject to section 112.03.15 – A) of the standard specifications, except that only the prescribed dollar values in that section shall be used in lieu of the project liquidated damage rate.

Work can begin when notice to proceed and preconstruction meeting have been completed.  See Section 614 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction for seasonal and weather limitations for cleaning and painting.  Joint seal replacement shall be completed by manufactures specifications including season limitations.

Contrary to section 105.11, the contractor will be required to perform pothole patching.  Upon receipt of the "notice to begin work", the contractor shall be responsible for routine pothole patching.  The contractor shall be responsible for patching both NB and SB pavements for the entire timeline of the project. Be aware that this roadway has pavement failures that continually cause potholes to form and reoccur. Many potholes have been patched in the past. Some may need patching at the time of bid and others may occur between the time of bid and the notice to begin work. The contractor shall inspect and repair these issues as necessary and as further directed by the engineer should additional notice be necessary to maintain traffic in a safe and reasonable manner to avoid damage to the traveling public. Significant spot issues shall be repaired within 24 hours of notice, for the safety and protection of the traveling public and their property and may require temporary, quick repairs. Other, more extensive repairs, may need to be scheduled in order to provide a more permanent preventative repair that will last throughout the winter. This item of work, including all labor, materials and equipment, as well as proper traffic control, shall be incidental to the "maintain and control traffic" bid item and shall be subject to the provisions of supplemental specification 112. 03.01  regarding non-compliance.
