Traffic Advisory: KY 2 in Greenup County to Reopen Monday; Repairs Start Tuesday on KY 1459

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (May 15, 2020) – State highway crews plan to finish slide repairs and reopen KY 2 in Greenup County by Monday afternoon, then move to KY 1459 on Tuesday for similar repairs there. Motorists should note the following traffic impacts:

·       KY 2 remains closed just east of the Little Sandy River bridge at milepoint 13.8 between Tortoise Street and Lea Acres Road, with traffic detoured to KY 3307 (Whetstone) or KY 1 to KY 1459. If weather permits, and once blacktop is patched, KY 2 will reopen there Monday, May 18, after noon. Watch signs and message boards.

·       On Tuesday, May 19, crews will close KY 1459 to all thru traffic between Messer Road and Carter Hollow (milepoints 2.36-2.55) to repair a slide area. The road will remain closed day and night for about a week. During the road closure, traffic may detour using KY 1 and KY 2 through US 23 at Greenup.

All road work subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
