District 9 Road Report: State Highway Work Zones May 4-8
Lane and road closures, flagged traffic, delays possible

 

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (May 4, 2020) – Motorists should expect state highway work zones in the following Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 locations in northeast Kentucky this week, the week of May 4:

BATH COUNTY

·       KY 1106 (Mount Pleasant Road) in Bath County, road closed at milepoint 3.3 just east of the Sanderson Road intersection near Bethel, bridge being rebuilt. Detour using KY 36 and KY 11 through Sharpsburg and Bethel. Anticipated completion and reopening by May 7.

BOYD COUNTY

·       I-64 mile markers 181-191 in Boyd County, left lanes in both directions closed for cable barrier installation, weekdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Speed limit reduced, various work zones, expect delays.

FLEMING COUNTY

·       KY 32 in Fleming County, lane closures and flagged traffic for roadway rehab and paving between Goddard and the Rowan County line (mile markers 18-28), 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily; speed limit 45 mph.

GREENUP COUNTY

·       KY 2 between Tortoise St. and Lea Acres Road (MP 13.8) in Greenup County, closed a half mile east of the Little Sandy River bridge until May 8, if weather is favorable, or the week after if not. Detour using KY 3307 (Whetstone) or using KY 1 to KY 1459.

·       Kenwood Drive (KY 750) at US 23 intersection in Russell closed for viaduct replacement project, until further notice. All thru traffic detoured to KY 207 and KY 693 (Diedrich Boulevard), or other routes.

LEWIS COUNTY

·       KY 1068 (Laurel Creek) in Lewis County, work zone just west of Deep Hole Branch (milepoint 1.7), bridge replacement with adjacent creek crossing detour.

MASON COUNTY

·       US 68 over Lawrence Creek in Mason County, mile marker 17, bridge repairs, traffic in narrow lanes with barrier walls, speed limit 35 mph. No wide loads or overweight vehicles.

·       Davis Lane in Mason County closed over the North Fork of the Licking River, bridge replacement. Detour using KY 1237 (Bridgeport Road), KY 1234 (Mt. Carmel Road), Polecat Pike and Dixon Pike.

·       Simon Kenton Memorial Bridge (US 62) at Maysville in Mason County, bridge closed for cable repairs through early May. Detour via US 68 and William Harsha Bridge.

·       KY 3056 at Maysville remains closed about two tenths of a mile east of Jersey Ridge Road to stabilize a slide area, make pavement repairs. Until reopened, anticipated by late May or early June, detour via KY 8 and US 68, or other routes.

NICHOLAS COUNTY

·       KY 648 (Walnut Grove Road) closed at US 68 in Nicholas County, until 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, depending upon weather. During the road closure, all KY 648 traffic should use the marked detour along US 68 and KY 1879 (Millersburg-Cynthiana Road) in Bourbon County.

Motorists should also watch for crews performing daily maintenance activities such as pothole patching, ditching, mowing and other repairs on state highways in District 9's service area of Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Nicholas and Rowan counties.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
