Replacement of Indian Run bridge on KY 503 in Greenup County planned
$550,000 project should start in July

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Jan. 23, 2020) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to replace the Indian Run Creek bridge on KY 503 in Greenup County this summer.

Contractors expect to start work in July, which will include removing the old culvert-style bridge on KY 503 just south of the KY 207 intersection (milepoint 5.3) and replacing it with a new structure.

During construction, traffic on KY 503 will be maintained across a temporary creek crossing adjacent to the work site. Traffic will be one lane controlled by temporary signals. Large trucks will be asked to detour. The contractor will have until Sept. 30 to complete the project.

The project is being done by Hinkle Construction Services LLC under a $553,349.25 low-bid Transportation Cabinet contract through the Bridging Kentucky program. The program is a commitment to improve the safety and soundness of the Commonwealth's bridges by rehabilitating, repairing, or replacing more than 1,000 critical structures in all 120 Kentucky counties over six years.

The program will open previously closed structures, improve bridge lifespans and ensure appropriate weight capacities are met, and improve access and mobility for all Kentuckians.
