Traffic Advisory: Upgraded Flemingsburg Bypass (KY 11-KY 57) signal now includes flashing yellow arrow
FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Oct. 24, 2019) – Kentucky Department of Highways crews upgraded the Flemingsburg Bypass (KY 11-KY 57) traffic lights at the KY 11-Maysville Road intersection north of downtown today to include a new "flashing yellow arrow" signal to enhance safety.
There are no changes in traffic flow at the intersection. Left turns from the bypass onto KY 11 toward Maysville or toward downtown Flemingsburg still must yield to oncoming traffic when indicated. The new flashing yellow arrow signals are designed to give drivers a better understanding of that yield condition rather than the old "yield on green" signs.
Motorists should use caution until familiar with the new signals, and remember that if you're driving on the Flemingsburg Bypass and approach the intersection to make a left turn then you will encounter one of the following four arrow indicators:
- Red Arrow: STOP. Drivers turning left must stop.
- Solid Yellow Arrow: CAUTION. The signal is getting ready to turn red.
- Flashing Yellow Arrow: CAUTION. Drivers may turn left after yielding to oncoming traffic.
- Green Arrow: GO. Drivers may turn left. Conflicting traffic is stopped.
The new signals operate similarly to the Elizaville Road (KY 32) signals at the Flemingsburg Bypass intersection near the hospital, as well as other arrow signals in Morehead, Ashland, Lexington and elsewhere.
