Traffic Advisory: KY 36 now closed through Sept. 23 at US 68 in Nicholas County
Detour using KY 32

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Sept. 12, 2019) – The temporary closure of KY 36 at the Maysville Road (US 68) intersection in Nicholas County will continue until about Sept. 23. The highway closed in mid-August as part of the ongoing US 68 reconstruction project.

Contractors are working to rebuild the KY 36-US 68 intersection, and KY 36 will remain closed at that location this week and next with no access to US 68. Contractors are working to reopen the road by Sept. 23, or earlier if possible. Barricades have been placed at the US 68 intersection at the traffic islands and near Miller Station Road. Local access will be maintained to residences in that area. All thru traffic on KY 36 should reroute using KY 32 to connect to destinations between US 68 and downtown Carlisle.

The US 68 reconstruction project, which began in March 2018, is the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's $15.7 million effort to build a new, wider roadway between Millersburg and KY 1455 in Nicholas County. The project ties in with previous reconstructions of US 68 between Millersburg and Paris.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
